The Fisker Karma, the world’s first true Electric Vehicle with extended range, has been named AUTOMOBILE Magazine’s 2012 Design of the Year.
The Fisker Karma premium luxury sedan is the brainchild of Henrik Fisker, the designer responsible for such modern standouts as the BMW Z8 and Aston Martin DB9.
The Karma is no less dramatic than these creations and, according to editors, “stands to become an icon, even without mention of its range-extended electric powertrain.” Read the full article here.

No Hocus Pocus: The Fisker Karma just might be the new face of the American car industry.
The Karma's curvaceous skin is draped over an extruded aluminum spaceframe with a wheelbase as lengthy as that of a Mercedes-Benz S-class - but the Fisker is nearly ten inches shorter, 4.4 inches wider, and 5.6 delicious inches lower in height. The resulting low, wide stance makes even the Maserati Quattoporte look demure - and the standard twenty-two-inch wheels certainly don't hurt that impression. Nor do the massive Brembo brakes lurking behind the two-tone spokes.

BAD (A**) KARMA

Whew! Hollywood can finally park its Priuses.
The Fisker Karma is a unique proposition. Unlike that other extended-range electric vehicle people are making such a fuss about (rhymes with jolt), the Karma's wheels are never, ever even slightly mechanically connected to its engine-generator unit (in this case, a turbocharged direct-injection, 2.0-liter, 260-horsepower GM Ecotec unit). Whether that's good or bad, the Karma is a 100-percent honest-to-goodness extended-range EV.
